Renaissance Stage Show

Baksana’s exciting theatrical stage show harkens back to the 1500 and early 1600s Renaissance era. Performances tell stories of adventure through music and dance from throughout the regions of the (then/former) Turkish Ottoman Empire.

The Adventures of Baksana are episodic journeys for all-ages to enjoy. The fantastical stories include pieces of historical information along side the creativity, humor, wit and teamwork of our ensemble to bridge understanding between cultures. Watch a silly old woman from the Bazaar challenge us to play an Enchanted Drum. Travel with us across the Sahara, facing desert winds, scorching sun, and a great warrior of legend. Laugh at the royal Pen Pals: Queen Elizabeth and Safiye Sultan… and the ensemble caught between them. Take a river boat down the Nile and learn about some of the local animals as we lose some precious cargo in the water and try to get it back!
Baksana, Hey! What’s that you hear? It’s the sound of those who always persevere.

Our evolution into thematic storytelling throughout out shows includes our Theme Song.

Costumes are historically researched to reflect an Arabic style of the Ottoman-era time period.
